Think about what you are afraid of. Then ask yourself how could you turn that fear into an opportunity that feeds you emotionally and physically.
What would you do if you weren’t afraid of making a mistake, or looking like a fool?
So many people find themselves locked into careers, lifestyle and financial obligations because of choices they have made which haven’t work out the way they expected. So before setting any goals take some time to think about a grand vision for your life.
Just imagine you are a very happy, active 80 year old who is looking back on a life well lived. Now ask yourself these questions. Who have you shared your life with? You don’t need to see specific people but you could see yourself surrounded by friends and family who love you. What contribution would you like to have made with your life? How often have you gotten annoyed with yourself when you’ve made a mistake?
Most people are their own worst enemies. They criticise and make judgements about themselves constantly.
If you want to love unconditionally, be kind or make a difference with your life you need to be patient with yourself. We are all students of life, we make mistakes, we forget our good intentions at times.
This week treat yourself as if you were a very young child that you love unconditionally. Be patient and understanding. You will become the person you want to be, you just need to take one step at a time.
I was talking about the Margaret Thatcher movie with someone recently when he said, “Isn’t it sad to see someone like that struck down by Alzheimer’s”. Without thinking I replied, “It’s probably because her life was so focused on being prime minister that when she no longer played that role, her life had no meaning.
